Good furniture store for ent. unit?
We went to American last night and weren't impressed with their inventory or quality. We love the quality of Pottery Barn and size, but they are way out of our price range! Any suggestions on places to look?
I think we may go to Ashley tonight...
Re: Good furniture store for ent. unit?
Annek, we did like one from American. It was a "cappucino" color made by Golden Oak and was $1449 for the whole unit. Just curious if that's the one you got and if you're happy with it.
I've been perusing Craigslist as well. My husband is a carpenter and he'd be all for making one, but with a baby due in a month we've got a lot of other projects and figured out of convenience buying would be easier...
I was going to suggest American, but since you've already been there I guess that doesn't help much. Sorry!
Anne has some good places for you to check out. I was also thinking Weekends Only, Craigslist, and you could check out Value City Furniture, Rothman, and Rothman also has an outlet in Wentzville that is closing soon that you may be able to check HTH a bit.
Oh, no, we didn't get anything that big, We got this one:

Now we just need the plasma flat screen to go on it!
Thanks girls! We found one last night at Ashley!! DH saw it online but the picture didn't do it justice. I'm so excited to get it next week and we got a discount for making a donation to Nurses for Newborns so even better!
I love that store but figured I shouldn't shop there regularly. I found a few more pieces I'd love to bring home
We ordered a TON of furniture from Ashley in 2004. Seriously, it was three entire rooms full. They delivered our furniture and easily five pieces were damaged. If I had been home I NEVER would have accepted them. DH accepted them and the delivery guys told them to just call the office. We called, set up a new delivery, and what do you know, they brought us more damaged furniture. Then, we tried a third time. I was finally too fed up and ready to let them have it. I spoke to a less than friendly manager who said they'd refund us 25% of the price of each item. Six months later, nothing was refunded. We went back and forth with them until we finally decide we were screwed over and will never do business with them again.
So, long story short, be very careful about checking over your furniture and do not let the driver leave if you are unhappy with the quality. (BTW, I've had friends with similar experiences in different cities, so I think it's a company wide issue.)
There is an online/catalog place called Home Decorators.
http://www.homedecorators.com/
They have a store location in Town & Country, as well.
13913 Manchester Rd.
Town and Country, MO 63011
(636) 391-1011
Store Hours:
Monday-Saturday: 9am - 9pm
Sunday: 10am - 6pm
And if you get on the mailing list, they have a couple of sales a year. They'll rent out space in a warehouse. People line up a couple of hours before they open and you can go buy damaged pieces. I've got a couple of shelves that were ~150 and ~220 from the catalog, that I paid less than like $25 & $40 for. One had a stripped screw hole (and hte screw was missing) and the other had a nick in it.
