Branson, MO attractions and restaurants?

Hi ladies,
I know Branson isn't too close, but I thought maybe some STL or other MO residents might go there for vacation?

MH and I are heading there this weekend and I wanted to get recs for things to do and restaurants to try before I just did a random google.
Thanks!
Indy Nestie :)
Move along, nothing to see here.....

The Hard Luck Diner was fun & good food:

    Hard Luck Diner

    (417) 336-7217
    2800 W Mo-76, Branson, MO 65616
Company Information: Right next to the Grand Palace Theater of Branson is a small '50s-style diner guaranteed to take you back to yesteryear. The staff is made up of aspiring actors, singers, musicians and songwriters, and it is not uncommon for one or a group of them to break into song and dance as they cavort around the tables. The menu is themed as well, featuring selections such as Cheese Release Me, a grilled cheese sandwich with all the trimmings for $5.29. Try the Love Me Tender Fried Steak for $8.59. A complete soda fountain lines the back wall with more than 15 flavors of soda and over 25 flavors of ice cream.

The Titanic exhibit is supposed to be great (we didn't have time to go).  Silver Dollar City isn't open yet  & don't know how many of the shows are.
  • I highly recommend the Showboat Branson Belle - very entertaining.  We also went to the Dixie Stampede and enjoyed that too but not as much as the Branson Belle.  So if you can only do one I would go to the Branson Belle.
  • We really like to go McFarlains. It is in this little mall, but the food is good. They have sweet potato chips and fried green tomatoes that are wonderful. It is truely country home cooking. The weather isn't going to be too warm, but in the summer we love going to Silver Dollar City. There is a resturant there that is like in a mine and has wonderful breakfast. It is called Lucky Silver Mine Restaurant. If you want a show dinner, Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede is fun. You eat a southern country meal and watch a show with cowboys and horses.

Almost all the shows are great down there. Ray Steven's is hilarious.
  • I second going to McFarlains.  It is a lot of fun, and if you can surprise your Husband with the trick table, that is so funny.  The table very slowly rises and lowers while you are eating.  Always good for a laugh  there are always a lot of confused people looking around.
