Bikini Wax Recommendations?

Just the words, Bikini Wax scare me.  I have very sensitive skin, which is why I cannot bare the thought of another summer shaving and getting razor burned.  I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get a bikini wax.  I live in South County.  If anyone has recommendations, that would be awesome.

Thanks in Advance :)

Re: Bikini Wax Recommendations?

  • btw, your sig pic is gorgeous.

I too despise the razor bumps, so I always go the wax route over shaving.  I've had success at Ginger Bay in Kirkwood.

Even if you don't got to Ginger Bay, just take a couple of advil before you go, and try to relax.  I really find that they're not so bad if I don't tense up.  Good Luck!

  • i was also going to recommend Ginger Bay in Kirkwood.  The girl i go to is Leah.  She's done my eyebrows for over 5 years and i just adore her.  I've only had one bikini wax in my life and decided i would just shave! LOL.  The advil is a great recommendation.  That did help.  Just a piece of advice (which i didn't know) and may be tmi, but make sure not to shave for a little while before you go, if you catch my drift.

  • Gotcha!  Thank you for the recommendations.  I do believe I will be making an appointment.  Thank you :)
  • I had my first bikini wax last summer, and decided to go back to Nair soon after.  BUT if you really want to go for it, I figured a few things out before my second appointment.  Definitely take 800mg of Advil about a half hour to an hour before your appt. Don't shave for at least a week or 2 before, and bring an ice pack for after.  Also, don't let them talk you into a brazilian.  I thought the most painful part was the part they usually leave, but take off in a brazilian.  (trying not to be too graphic!) My waxer didn't even ask if I wanted a  brazilian, just took everything.  Couldn't look at myself for the next few weeks without giggling.  Good luck, and just remember that it is over pretty soon! :)
  • It's not pleasant but I didn't find it as bad as everyone says-Just take deep breaths and it's over with quickly.  I went to Face and Body and went the Brazillion route.  Just don't do what I did and go try on clothes right after words-getting in and out of pants especially is quite irritating right after!!
  • Looks like I am late answering but I wouldn?t go anywhere else but Barb Lalumandier @ Beauty World (636-447-3361).  I first read her name on the knot during my wedding planning.  I've sent numerous wax clients her way and have never heard a complaint, in fact only comments that they'll be sending their mother / sister / friend to her.  She makes me feel comfortable; in fact I?ve been going to her for so long now we hug when I leave.  It can be an all around uncomfortable experience; I hope you find someone you like!
