How long is the storm going to last??

Hello from Maine,

I am supposed to be flying to St. Louis tomorrow morning and am just curious to know if any of you know how long the bad weather you are having is supposed to last?  I am flying via Newark and have a feeling I might be stuck in Newark if all flights into St. Louis get cancelled.  Any insight would be appreciated!  Thanks :)

Re: How long is the storm going to last??

  • I'm under the impression that the weather is supposed to continue being nasty until tomorrow evening's rush hour.  Some websites that might be helpful to watch our weather:

    KMOV.com -- local news station
    http://www.kmov.com/weather/

Weather.com  -- with the zip code of St. Charles which is a bout 10 minutes from the airport.
    http://www.weather.com/weather/local/63301?lswe=63301&lwsa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&from=whatwhere

Earlier i was watching the news and they were saying that there's been quite a few cancelations out of our airport, but they're doing their best to keep the runways open....Sorry i know that doesn't help much :(
  • The airport never closed actually. My experience is that Lambert is pretty good about keeping things going even in bad conditions. You might be late, but I'll bet you get here.
  • I just watched our 5:00 news and the pp are correct. This is unfortunately going to last much of the day on Friday as well. We're supposed to get another 1 to 3 inches of sleet and snow on top of the 1 to 3 we have now. So unfortunately, you may get delayed or even cancelled. They also said that there were a few flights landing, but even more that weren't taking off.
  • For the local girls,

How is it the meteorologist on channel 5 (what's her name?) has such a different forecast than everyone else?  Everybody else is talking about a second wave of the storm and she has not even hardly mentioned it in her forecast at all.  She keeps talking about how the storm has moved out and we should be clear, except for a slim chance that a little more percipitation could come in from the south.  Everybody else is talking about expecting more after midnight and through the day tomorrow.  Wth?

  • Channel five has always been "different"  When it comes to *weather* i've always watched channel 4 or channel 2 becuase they seem to be on the same page.  I don't know if that's the equipment they use or what..     On a side note, St. Louis weather IS hard to predict, i knew a meterologist friend in college and he always said that ST. Louis folks had it rough for the weather because our weather could change so quickly due to so many different factors, that it's hard to predict.
