Re: Today's Question: 3/18
The best surprise I pulled off was this Valentine's Day for DH. He is allergic to peanuts and cannot eat anything with may contain or processed on equipment with peanuts warnings. He used to not care but he had 2 scares last year and had to go to the hospital with one of them. Since then he doesn't eat anything with warnings. Well, I found a site called peanutefreeplanet that sells KitKats (probably DH's favorite candy) that are made specially to be peanut free. So I ordered him 2 boxes full of KitKats (50+ regular bars) and had it delivered on V-day. He was so happy.
I can't think of the best surprised pulled off on me. Mainly because DH is terrible as surprising/secrets. When he plans something secretive, he has to end up telling me before it actually happens LOL.
DH hates surprises and big hoop-lahs, but I wanted to do something special for him on our anniversary trip, so I found a place in Gatlinburg that was a hot sauce store. I wanted it to be a surprise so I didn't tell DH about it until we got downtown and parked our car. Before we left the car I handed him some tums and told him to take 2. He informed he that he felt fine, and I repeated, "take 2 and come with me." We had a little battle there in the parking lot. he insisted he wasn't hungry and I insisted that didn't matter. he then insisted he wasn't going to RIDE anythign that would make him nauseous. I told him I understood.
Eventually he just came with me asking the same questions over and over. When we got there he was like a kid in a candy shop :-D he loved it!
His best surprise for me was for V-day he enrolled me in a floral design class at the community college so I could learn to arrange flowers. Unfortunately the class was cancelled due to low enrollment :-/ But he took me to Asheville to go to a dueling piano bar instead.
I guess my best suprise was suprising DH with his wedding gift, which was a photo book I put together with my B-pics in them. He loved it, and was completely blown away!
My biggest suprise was in college when some of my girlfriends were going to take me out to dinner. I forgot where I wanted to go, but my friend was like, well, I have to run by this other place real quick, I was mad, and was telling her it was my birthday and I didn't want to go there, blah blah blah. Then I walked in and about 20 people were all there to celebrate my birthday...it was really nice.
The best surprise I have ever pulled off was Christmas 2007 when DH (then FI) and I, along with BIL and SIL surprised the ILs with a puppy! DH and I had thought about getting them a dog that Christmas, since they had to put down their other dog the Christmas before. We got BIL and SIL to go in on the surprise with us. I researched some dogs and found the perfect one. On Christmas Eve, DH and I drove to Columbia (we were in Aiken at the time) to get the puppy. The puppy stayed overnight with me at my parents' house, and the next day we brought him over to the ILs. We told MIL and FIL to close their eyes as we brought the puppy in and we set him down between them on the couch. It was so much fun to watch them open their eyes to their new puppy! They were completely surprised and so, so happy.
The best surprise I have ever received was my engagement ring. I didn't see the proposal coming that night!
