Escondido Baby Shower ideas??

Hello there, I curious if any of you know where I could host a baby shower for my sister who lives in Escondido, CA? I live in Vancouver, BC and I do not know the San Diego area at all. I was thinking about a brunch at the Cheesecake Factory, but I'm not sure as they do not take reservations. Thanks for your help:) Angela

Re: Escondido Baby Shower ideas??

  • Personally I think the Cheesecake Factory is ridiculously over-rated! :)  Sorry...

Does she like Mexican food?  There is a really great Mexican restaurant in Escondido - Hacienda de Vega.  Not sure if they specifically do brunches but their website has a contact page.
It's one of my favourite restaurants and the setting is beautiful :)

  • Hacienda de Vega is NICE but we looked into having my bridal shower there and they were ridiculously overpriced!!

If you want to stay in Escondido, you are a bit limited since most of our restaurants dont have banquet space.  If you want to do a brunch, look into 150 Grand--they have a nice back room that would accomodate a baby shower nicely.  Cocina del Charro also has a private room--its fairly large but its in the back of the restaurant.

What price range are you looking at?  Any specific type of food?  How far outside of Escondido would you be willing to host the event?

  • Yes, how close to Escondido do you want? Cheescake Factory is pretty far away (35-40 minutes) non rush hour. What about price range?
  • if you're willing to travel into SD (about 30-40 minutes South) you could always do a tea.  i threw my girlfriend's baby shower at The Horton Grande Hotel downtown and it was great.  They have a really nice outdoor courtyard that you'd most likely have to yourselves for the shower.  I also recently did a tea for my birthday at Tea Upon Chatsworth, which in Pt. Loma.  It was lovely and I preferred the tea and the food there!  The only thing is that it's small and gets a bit crowded (not so private), but since there were only 8 of us it wasn't bad.

Below are the websites for both:

  • There is also El Bizcocho at the Rancho Bernardo Inn (about 5-10 minutes south of Esco).  They do a nice sunday brunch and they can accomodate large parties.  We did my friends bridal shower there.  Its not super cheap (i think its between $30-$40 a person) but the food is good.

Also....if its going to be during nicer weather, there is a little irish pub on Grand called R O'Sullivans.  They have a little courtyard out back that can seat about 16 people or so.

Marie Callendars also has a private room--its the garden room off of the bar.  I know that its a chain but its got space, ample parking, and its affordable.

If any other Escondido places pop into my mind, I will post them.  I live in Escondido so feel free to ask me any questions about places you might be interested in.
