Church anyone?

Just curious, but does anyone on here go to church? DH and I moved here in Oct and have been looking off and on since then. We are looking for a large (and fairly young) congregation at a Episcopal or Methodist church. We live in central San Diego (near Qualcomm) but are willing to drive to a good one.

Re: Church anyone?

  • We're Catholic and go to St. Patricks but during the school year we go to mass at the Saints chapel (St. Augustine High School - where DH graduated from). The Augustinians run the school and our church.

  • We go to Solana Beach Presbyterian.  There is a sunday evening service that has a good amount of younger people and is really laid back.
  • We're also Catholic, we go to Saint Michaels in Poway, it's a very large community and they have a lot of activities going on....  I believe there's an Episcopal church in Penasquitos (because when we moved here I first thought it was Catholic :-D), it's called St. Timothy, I've never been there, just trying to help ;-)
  • Hi :)  I'm Episcopalian (I was raised in teh Church of England).
I go to an Episcopal Church in Escondido just because I've been going for years and teach Sunday School for them every so often/served on the vestry... bit hard to leave despite the drive :)  Plus, we have a wonderful female priest and I think she's 85% of the reason I stay...   It's pretty "high church," though and the congregation is a bit on the older side (I honestly think I'm the only one there under 35, not counting kids and teenagers!  lol)

I have been to St. David's in Claremont a couple times since my sister and BIL are members, there.  I LOVE it there!  It's a lot more contemporary than Trinity (where I'm a member) - the music is great, the priest is good, etc...  you might want to check them out :)
I can't think of the address - Milton street I think...

    here's St. David's website:

  • I'm Mormon, so that probably doesn't help our search! Our church is close to you though --  in Mission Valleyish just off the Fairmont/Mission Gorge exit. You're welcome to come anytime.
  • many of my friends go to St Davids in Clairemont (my godson was baptized there).  my girlfriend Elaine sings in the choir & i've heard they have an awesome preschool too.  if you need more info please feel free to email me at, tessadee@yahoo.com
  • I'm late on this and I don't lurk here often (knottie), but I just moved here also and have been going to FI's family's church, First United Methodist.  It's close to you, just on the other side of 8, it's that big white upside-down parabola building.  It's very large and pretty outside and inside, and although I am not religious I will totally recommend this church.  I enjoy going and listening to the sermons and seeing everyone and being social.  The people are so nice!  And of course you are always welcome to come on any Sunday, I usually go to the 9:30 service but there's one before and after (I want to say 8 and 11 but I'm not totally sure).
