Breast Cancer 3 Day?

This may have already been posted, but I didn't see it when I searched, but is anyone doing the Breast Cancer 3 day -60 mile event?  My friend and I really want to do it, I was just curious if anyone else was planning on it also.
I'm not sure if I can raise the $2100 needed, but I read that they have seminars and lots of info on how to raise money from businesses for it....anyway--just curious if anyone was thinking about doing it too.......

Re: Breast Cancer 3 Day?

  • I really really want to do it, but unfortunately I don't think this is the year for me to do it..probably next year though! When I lived near Crown Point, I always saw them walking every year and it was so inspiring! But it is a big time commitment, and I know from fundraising $1700 for the Rock an Rocll Marathon (with Team in Training), is alot of work! (and I think I tapped my family members out between the marathon in 06and a wedding in 07!) But good luck, and let me know if you need any fundraising tips!

  • Havent dont it but my mom did it last year and she is doing it again this year with her company team.  She did get all her money from friends and family and her company gave her some cash plus paid for her hotel room and airfare.

My mom and some of the local people from her company organized a golf tournament and raised about $30,000 that they divided amongst their corporate team (approx 100 people).  In total they raised over $260,000 as a team.

Check with your work to see if they have any type of matching program.  The girls at my work who do the walk hold bake sales throughout the year and they bring in breakfast snacks to sell.  They managed to raise 80% of their money this way.

Look into parties (Tupperware, PartyLite, Pampered Chef).  Most consultants will donate 10-25% of the sales to your walk.  Im a PartyLite consultant and I do 20% for any type of fundraisers but I know that there are some consultants out there who will vary their percentage.

Check out the forums on the website--there is a ton of good information on there.

  • --thanks for the good ideas---Unfortunately, I work from home, so I don't have a huge support that way--I like the ideas about bake sales and parties. I defintely have my work and research cut out for me!
  • Me and a few girlfriends were talking about doing this. If you start now you'll definitely be able to raise the money :)

  • I would love to do it. I am very interested in the "how to raise money" seminar. Maybe we could do it as a group of Nesties...I really want to do it next year. I need to get in way better shape for that..
