Moms... Some questions for you...

1. Did you start your DC on rice cereal at 4 or 6 months?

2. Did you let your child CIO ever? If so, how old were they and did it work?

Re: Moms... Some questions for you...

  • 1. 4 months

    2. Yes - at 4.5 months and it worked in 3 nights.  She only had a problem with night wakings - not going down.  The first night she cried 27 minutes, second night 19 minutes, third night 7 minutes. . .and she STTN from then on.
  • 1.  4 Months.

    2. Haven't done it yet but if the 4:30 am wakings continue we might consider it.

  • 1.  Started rice cereal at 4 months, but waited till she was almost 6 months before going on to anything else.

    2.  Not really.  Due to DD's feeding issues and small size, if she wakes in the middle of the night, we take the opportunity to feed her and get some more ounces into her.  However, we just started our own modified CIO if she has trouble going down for the night, and while it's tough, it seems to be working (only been 2 nights so far).

  • I started him at 4 months. He had reflux and it helped some.

I never let him cio. My son is 19 months and still wakes up at night (to come into our bed). He was waking for a night feeding until 16 months. I'm probably not the person to get sleep advice from :)

  • 1. started at 4.5 months and couldn't handle it, so we stopped are restarted around 6.

    2. We did around 11 months.  Worked a few days and then it backfired.  We had a little girl who would just cry when we got near her room.   We gave her a week of comfort and sleeping with us, then we did Good night sleep tight by Kim West.  Worked great and still does.

  • 1. Started at 5 months.  She has yet to really take to it, so we might try a different type of cereal or other fruits.  Waiting for next pedi appt to discuss.

    2. Julia really doesn't cry for that long anymore (the first 3 months were another story...) so thankfully haven't had to CIO.

  • 4 months

and yes. at around 8 months. she was sleeping through the night already but she wouldn't go to bed or a nap without one of us laying down with her and that needed to stop. It worked pretty well, took only a few days.

  • 1.  5 months

    2.  Not officially (as in, we didn't do formal sleep trainig over time) but we have used it.  It works but it's not fun!

  • 1.  5+ b/c I wanted to wait until 6 and everyone except the pedi told me he was starving and needed more than breastmilk.  Umm, he was like 19 lbs, not exactly starving!  I gave in just to stop all the yapping....

    2.  Yes after MUCH reading.  He was 8.5 months and we had 2.5 months of hellish sleep.  Going down was fine, but night wakings were getting ridiculous.  One long night of CIO was all it took.  We still get random wakings since then, but that seems to be teething and solid food related (like when he doesn't eat enough before bed....)

    4 months
    2. Did you let your child CIO ever? If so, how old were they and did it work? No, I haven't really had to and the times when I did try it I was unsuccessful (note the I not Lucas...mommy couldn't handle it)
  • 1.  At 3.5 months in her bottle to help her reflux

    2.  For night wakings only - she cried the first night for 20 minutes and has sttn since (except for recent teething episodes, which I don't count)
