Waterview - Menu help needed...

Hi Ladies,

I have a question that i'm hoping some of you can help with....

My FI and I are picking our menu at the Riverview this weekend. Has anyone been to or had a wedding at the Waterview (sister site)?

Any recommendations on menu choices - appetizers or entrees? We don't get a tasting, so i'm relying on nestie and knottie opinions.

Thanks!

Re: Waterview - Menu help needed...

  • I've been to a wedding at Waterview and the food was in the top 3 weddings I've been to, so I think you're in good shape.  I don't remember what we had specifically, so maybe you could post some of the items you're considering, that might be helpful.
  • Our's was there.  Food seemed fine.  I only ate the veggie items and they cooked the recipe we gave them, so it was perfectly what I wanted.  Otherwise we had some large meat thing sliced up, chicken in a mango salsa, grouper in a champagne sauce, wasabi and roasted garlic mashed potatoes.  That's all I remember.
  • My wedding was at the waterview and the guests raved about EVERYTHING!!!!!

I had filet mignon, swordfish WHICH WAS INCREDIBLE, and some chicken but i forgot what it was...

also had penne vodka for pasta and I had their house salad with a shrimp skewer on it.

i dont remember apps but like i said, my guests raved and raved about the food...and were an italian family!

  • Jessica - I have my entire menu at home, if you want I can dig it up and email you what we had for apps.

For entrees we had chicken roulade, filet and the poached salmon.  We had the shrimp cocktail as the first course or composed salad.

Everyone raved about the cocktail hour food and what little I had was awesome.

  • Our wedding was at the Waterview for entree choices we had:
    Grilled Filet Mignon
    Chicken Breast Roulade
    Red Snapper Madagascar

The only 2 apps I remember are:
    Scallops Wrapped in Bacon
    Shaved Thai Chicken w/ pineapple

I did not eat much, but what I did have was wonderful.  Everyone raved about the Snapper.  The only issue I heard was that some people didn't think the Filet, was Filet...but still thought it was good.

  • Thanks for your responses, this is helpful!

AES - as far as things we're considering, we've narrowed it to the following:

Apps (we pick 6) (leaning towards ones in italics)

    -Franks in puff pastry

    -Crab cakes with veggie slaw

-Fried calamari with fra diavolo sauce

    -Coconut chicken with mango chutney

    -Phyllo wrapped spinach and feta

-Pepper crusted sirloin with horseradish sauce

    -Tomato bruschetta

-Baked brie and toasted almond tart

-Petite beef Wellington with rosemary mayo

-Shaved Thai chicken with grilled pineapple

-Wild mushroom ragout in pastry shells

-Roasted veggie croquette with balsamic onion jam

Entrees (we pick two) (leaning towards ones in italics)

    -Grilled Filet Mignon

    -Waterview Cowboy Steak

    -Rack of Lamb

    -Chicken breast Roulade

    -Chicken breast Piccata

-Poached Salmon in Dil Beurre Blanc

    -Red Snapper Madagascar

    -Oriental Glazed Duck

OR instead of 2 entrees, we can pick a Duo or Trio:
    -Duo (Filet Mignon / Salmon)

-Trio (Filet Mignon / Mahi Mahi / Chicken)

  • EML - yes :) If you could email what your apps were that would be great!  Thanks!

I have your gmail address in my addressbook, i'll send you an email with my home addess right now. thanks =)

  • They were supposed to customize some items for us, and kinda did.  Like we needed to be pork free for DH's family so they let us come up with some basic app items.
  • From what I can remember, we definitely the filet and I think it may have been the duo actually.  Definitely had the peppered sirloin app and the veggie app you had italicized.  The reception we went to was almost a full stations type reception for just the appetizers, so I'm pretty sure we tried all of them and nothing was disappointing!
