Update on my Dad- & ?

My dad had his surgery yesterday (to remove tumor from his lung).  The surgery went well and my dad is feeling some discomfort but all in all doing well.  Hopefully he will be going home in 3 to 5 days.

I can't wait to get out of work to go visit him.

He keeps asking when DS is coming to see him (my dad watches DS when DH & I are at work).  I had not planned on bringing DS to hospital but we are leaving on cruise tomorrow.  What do you think, is it ok to bring a 7 month old to the hospital to visit someone recovering from surgery?  My dad does have his own room.

Re: Update on my Dad- & ?

  • First off, I am happy to hear that your father is doing well and recovery is coming along.

Second, in regards to the hospital visit, I think it depends on where he is located.  If he is on a Med-Surg floor, it most likely is fine to visit.  ICU, for instance, does not allow young children.

I think the visit will be great for his spirits and will help in him keeping positive about getting better and getting home.

  • I would call the hospital & see what their visitor policies are. Depending on what floor he's on, they may not allow children under 13.
  • Thanks for the advice!  He is not in the ICU just on a post surgical recovery floor.  I will have my mom ask what the policy is.
