BFing question- Is this really possible?!
My friend had her 2nd baby on Tues. I went to visit her yesterday and we were talking about how different your body is the 2nd time around.
So I asked if her milk came in yet...and she said "It came in back in Feb"
I assumed she meant just a little colostrum or something and she said "Nope, fully came in!"
I thought it was triggered by something in the body when you give birth. Is it really possible to get milk before the baby is even born? That seems so strange to me!

Not true for me...

That didn't happen to me, but I didn't bf for long with JT. Though I would think that if you bf'd for a while with your 1st it might be possible.
Though, apparently it's possible to get yourself to relactate after not BFing for years. . . I never tried though lol
Usually what is produced before delivery is colostrum. The hormone levels keep the full milk from coming in. The drop in progesterone after the placenta is delivered is what triggers milk "coming in." I would guess what she had was copious colostrum.
Or, she could be one of those weird medical exceptions
