Tell me what OTC skin care products you use.

I know that this has been posted or polled before so sorry for the repeat.

I am running out of my mary kay and Philosophy skin care products and want to try a nice drug store brand to save $.

Tell me what you use and reccommend for:

1-Face wash
2-moisturizer or anti age/wrinkle moisturizer
3-Eye cream
4-a microderm abrasion type scrub

PLEASE, only drug store brands. No departments store brands.

TIA

Re: Tell me what OTC skin care products you use.

  • 1-Face wash - Dove bar soap
2-moisturizer or anti age/wrinkle moisturizer - I'm using the equate brand of day and night moisturizer - it's supposed to be exactly the same as the Olay line.
3-Eye cream - same as above
4-a microderm abrasion type scrub Don't use - but maybe I'll try if there is a good recommendation.
  • 1.  I use either Neutragena's Deep Clean Cream Cleanser or St. Ives's Sensitive Aprioct Scrub
    2. and 3. I use products from The Body Shop, sorry
    4.  Don't use, sorry again
  • The only over the counter product I use of those you are looking for is my moisturizer.  I use Aveeno (the one with the soy protein for acne).  I really like it.  It absorbs nicely and doesn't ever make my skin feel oily.  I usually buy it at Wal-Mart and I think I pay $11 and it seems like the bottle lasts several months.
  • 1-I don't wash my face. I know that sounds wierd, but soap or cleansers of any kind make me break out. But I don't wear foundation so water works fine.

2- Aveeno anti-wrinkle. I love this stuff. So lightweight, non irritating, doesn't make me break out. They have a whole line of day/night/eye stuff.

    3 - See #2

4-I don't, but I would use sugar if I was that enterprising as to use a scrub.
  • I've used Cetaphil face wash in the past and it's done pretty well, but I need to switch face washes pretty frequently b/c they stop working.

the other stuff I don't buy, but I like Neutrogena and Aveeno best of the drugstore brands!

  • 1. Clearasil stuff. Don't know the exact name. I know it's time release and has 10% benzol proxoide stuff. And that the flexible spending account will pay for it. 2. Futur*E from L'Oreal 3&4. N/A

  • 1-Face wash  Cetaphil regular
2-moisturizer or anti age/wrinkle moisturizer - don't really use any
3-Eye cream- just vitamin e oil around my eyes (can get a nice size bottle at a GNC type place that lasts for most of the year)
4-a microderm abrasion type scrub- what I do here is once or twice a week I use my face wace with scrub gloves...similar to a really rough face cloth but they're gloves...they'll have them at any drugstore with the other exfoliating stuff.  My face is so soft and shiney after using these.

  • 1-Face wash: Neutrogena Cream Cleanser
2-moisturizer or anti age/wrinkle moisturizer: St. Ives. Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer. One big tub, which lasts a year (!!) costs maybe $4. It's the best value for the amount you get. And, it's a greaseless facial moisturizer that actually moisturizes year-round.
3-Eye cream: I don't use one, although I probably should.
4-a microderm abrasion type scrub: The one I use isn't really a scrub. It's a wash that has a high percent of acid. It's by Mario Badescu, and I use it every two weeks or so. More than that would irritate my skin and break me out.
  • I don't use a lot of face products, but I've just discovered LUSH products.

    www.lush.com.

It's like a new addiction for me.  The "natural" products and make your skin feel lovely (and they smell pretty darn great, too!).
