IBS Question- Sorta TMI I guess :P
Anyone here have IBS? I think I do..if not atleast a minor case of it. Actually for the past 2 or 3 years I saw the same symptoms. Anything I eat.. reacts poorly with my system .... Sometimes within 1/2 hour or 1/2 day. Not just food either. If I get nervous or upset.. Same thing which is a symptom of IBS.
Are there any over the counter pills I could take or should I just make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. I'd hate to have another colonoscopy.
Re: IBS Question- Sorta TMI I guess :P
I have it, and there are lots and lots of things you can try to help alleviate your symptoms. You should check out www.helpforibs.com. There is a lot of good information there and also a message board.
The first things you should probably try are: eating a healthy diet overall, eating small meals many times per day, and a soluble fiber supplement. And of course anything you can do to reduce your stress levels.
My mom's doc thougth she IBS until they discovered she was anemic. That brought up the red flags for internal bleeding. Colonscopy was done and it was clear. So they did an endoscopy. Ends up being Celiac disease (the body can't tolerate gluten/wheat). Could also be a possibility?
A year ago, I use to think it could be greasy food, so I cut a TON of fast food out. But it's not always that, I could eat healthy and it could do it. It's all of a sudden to. Hate it!
I think my next step is to see a gastroent.. seeing wha t happens there and then to a nutritionist to get this under control.
