Brunch for the picky. Help.

DH and I are hosting a family brunch for 11. I really try to be careful about what I serve based on who is attending these things, but sometimes it's tough when people are picky.

Suggestions, please!

Here are my restrictions:
DH is lactose intolerant.
MIL is hypoglycemic and doesn't eat chocolate
2 Kids under 12

*And there is no room for interesting or brave foods of any kind. I might be allowed to use fresh pepper, but nary a water chestnut or baby corn. (DH never had chinese food growing up, if this is any indication). He told me "No one will eat quiche." My mom brought a kugel to the last event and I thought my ILs would run screaming for the hills.

So far I've got: fruit salad, muffins or butterscotch scones, possibly ham with pineapple/orange glaze, and red potato homefries.

This is, by the way the exact brunch I made 5 years ago when our families met. So I'm willing to branch out a little.
