shoulder replacement surgery

After years of pain, my mom has finally set a date (June 16th) for her shoulder replacement.  She is having a total shoulder replacement NOT just a rotator cuff surgery.  Now that it's finally here, I'm trying to get as much information about it as I can.

Does anyone know someone who has had this procedure before?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

This is shaping up to be a VERY BUSY summer.

Re: shoulder replacement surgery

  • I have only had arthoscopic surgery on my shoulder so nothing that extensive, but... I did find that having the built-in bra cami's were the best since i could step into them and pull them up rather than over head. The other issue is the little things like combing hair. Your mom should be practicing using her other hand/arm as much as possible now for the little things like that.

  • My dad had rotator cuff surgery a year and a half ago and MIL is having it next month.  My dad said the surgery itself wasn't too bad, but the physical therapy (4 months worth) was tough and painful.   Much worse than he had double knee replacement surgery.  Good luck, she will probably need a lot of help and support!!
