Ugh I am a 7th grade teacher in a middle school and one of the 8th grade teachers, I swear, she thinks she is *in* middle school, rather than just a teacher at a middle school.
This person is one of those people that wants the principal to always see how great she is and what wonderful things she is doing in her classroom. But the lengths she will go to are amazing...she continually lies about everyone and everything, just to make herself look better. She even nearly got me fired last year, when I was on the 8th grade team. Luckily, the principal just moved me down to 7th grade, which has been SOOO much better for me!!
ANyway, she has a student teacher, who she treats like craap and won't actually let her teach. The ST asked if she could come observe my classroom, I said sure and asked if she'd like to teach a mini-lesson or co-teach a part of a lesson to the whole class. She jumped on the chance, to the irritation of her master teacher (my stupid coworker). Rather than say something to me, like, "I'd really rather her not teach. She needs to just observe." the MT didn't say anything.
Then yesterday she tells me, "This is just a one day, one period thing." to which I responded, "No problem with me. She's your student teacher. I just offered her the chance to do more than watch when she asked about coming to my room." It was left at that.
Today, 10 min after ST gets to my room, and about 5 min into her teacher, the MT calls and wants her back. She said she needed to go to the office for a meeting, which really wasn't until after school.
I felt bad for the ST, but just neutrally told her her MT needed her back and had the kids thank her for visiting us. I had HW club after school today and who is the other teacher?? The stupid coworker! UGH.
She said something about having to pull the ST out. I just said, "I don't mind either way. I just feel bad for ST." Too which the co-worker responded "Well, she shouldn't even be teaching anyway. She is only observing."
Again, fine by me. She's your ST, not mine. But instead of being passive aggressive about it, just say so in the first place!! SO LAME. I just wanted to give the ST some practice actually teaching, since her MT doesn't want to let her do any real teaching with her kids.
VP totally backs me up on this, and agrees that MT is being petty and childish. I don't really need advice here, as I don't deal with this co-worker much, but I wanted to vent. How babyish can one person be? like I said though, she is known for these types of antics.
Re: b!tchy co-worker *kinda long vent*
Nasty MTs are the worst!!!
How long has she been student teaching? You should only observe for like a week, and then should be practicing TEACHING! UGH!!
She sounds like a gem!
