Is this normal for DC

To all of a sudden be scared by things that never bothered him before.  My mom said it is but I just want reassurance I guess.  Our friends mother watches him Monday - Thursday and today she said that he started to scream and had big tears when she turned on the ceiling fan.  Also he got upset over a tv show that our friends daughter was watching.  I find this to be very weird.  Please tell me it's a normal phase and that he will grow out of it....

Re: Is this normal for DC

  • Yes, that's normal. I remember reading that some kids get randomly afraid of grass or other things that are non-threatening. It's a sign that they're becoming more aware of their environment, etc. (not bad!)

I don't know when they grow out of it, but probably when they get more reasoning skills.

  • This just happened last night with Lucas, we were in the basement and there was a yoga ball down there.  I started to bounce it and he got so upset, big tears, pouty bottom lip.  Last week we were rolling it back and forth and he was loving it.....I think it is normal, I agree weird but normal.
