I realize these questions are a bit on the personal side, so only answer if you feel comfortable doing so!
1) How much do you save monthly?
2) Do you have more than one savings account?
3) About what percentage of your monthly household income (take-home) do you save?
4) Are you saving for anything in specific at the moment other than "the future" in general?
Re: End of day Poll: Saving
2) Do you have more than one savings account? Yes, we have a high-yield savings and another through our bank.
3) About what percentage of your monthly household income (take-home) do you save? :::takes out the calculator::: I think it's just under 10%.
4) Are you saving for anything in specific at the moment other than "the future" in general? We are saving for our vacation in September and slowly putting more towards a DP for a home. We also want to have 6 months' worth of mortgage payments put aside before buying.
1) How much do you save monthly?
Just started again! About 300$ in cash (although I have debt that I should/need to paydown, so I'm kind of net negative for now!)
Around 1200$ a month into retirement/401K. (this has jumped recently due to a raise)
2) Do you have more than one savings account?
Yes, DH and I each have one, and we have one shared.
3) About what percentage of your monthly household income (take-home) do you save?
Not enough. Very small at this point - about 8%. Not sure about DH. The mortgage eats up a lot of his disposable income.
Wow, that's a wake up. Food and bills are expensive.
4) Are you saving for anything in specific at the moment other than "the future" in general?
Travel, home improvement, paydown of student loans and mortgage, car if necessary (would buy in cash)
1. We try to save $2000 per month but we're teachers so it's for the summer.
2. No. One checking, one savings.
3. We probably end up saving close to 5% per year.
4. Saving for a new kitchen, but it might be for a new house in 2 years when dd is about to enter kindergarten.
1) Right now we aim to save about $2K/mo - sometimes its more, sometimes less (like last month when DH rear ended someone..ugh)
2) Yes we have an ING online savings we started w/ our wedding money, and our bank savings account that we keep some money in in case we need $ immediately.
This doesn't include retirement savings, which are automatic and are about 13% of gross income. We're actively looking for a house right now so we try to save as much as possible because we keep increasing our price range - we can't find anything decent under for $400k down here. I also want to pay off my car a couple years early.
Best savings advice I've gotten - track your spending as close as you can. This is a great eye opener to see where all your money is going! Its helped me set a maximum mortgage payment that I know I don't want to exceed as well.
2) We have more than one, but they're both joint.
3) It's about 40 percent.
4) We're saving for a DP on a house and for vacations and my husband's next car.
1. it varies, but right now we're doubling up on a car payment to pay the car off in three years, and snowballing my stupid youth debt, so not as much as we would otherwise.
2. yes - we each have a savings at our CU and a high yield savings at HSBC.
3. again, it varies
4. retirement, starting some mid-term investments..
2) Do you have more than one savings account? one with the bank, one with ING
3) About what percentage of your monthly household income (take-home) do you save? i could be totally way off, but a lot, like 30%?? does that sound ridiculously high? i guess we're doing okay if we're saving 30%, that sounds great, i just can't figure out if it's true! i'm baaaad with math...
4) Are you saving for anything in specific at the moment other than "the future" in general? down payment on a home
