Poll: When did you feel your baby move for the first time?

I swear I felt movement at 12 weeks, but the dr told me it was pretty near impossible.
Last night & this morning I'm feeling a lot of fluttering/vibration... could it be? Everything I've read says you feel it somewhere between 14-20 weeks, but most likely closer to 16-18.

When did you feel your baby move for the first time? What did it feel like?
Did you know right away that it was the baby? Or did you have to wait for a real kick or jab to confirm it?

Re: Poll: When did you feel your baby move for the first time?

  • -flutter at 16w (during the Superbowl!). It felt like when a fish blows bubbles into a tank. Bloop! I wasn't sure at the time, but now I am. After that, nothing.

-19w - first kick type feeling.
  • 16 weeks I felt my first poke.  Felt like someone poked me from the inside my skin pushed out ever so slightly.  From then on it was little flutters, rolls, stuff like that.

  • I wasn't sure what I was feeling at 16wks, but by 17 I knew for sure.  It isn't kicking right away, more like swimming.  DH felt it for the first time around 22wks I think.
  • I'll bet that's the baby you're feeling! So exciting! =)

For me it was 18 weeks, 3 days that I know I felt her move. It felt like she was lighly poking me from the inside. I never felt that fluttery feeling everyone describes.
  • I can't remember the exact week, but I know it was early (between 14-16 weeks).  DH didn't feel the baby until around 24 weeks.  That's so exciting!  I think feeling the baby move is the best thing about being pg. :)
  • Small flutters at about 17 weeks- by week 21 DH could feel him, which according to one of the books I'm reading is very early!  By the time this book said DH should be able to maybe feel kicks if I direct him to where they were, he had been feeling them for almost 2 months.  In all fairness we do have a big mover/shaker.  I swear he never sleeps!  We could be in for a lot of trouble!  :)
  • I felt some bubbly/flutter sensations around 14 weeks.  Definite movement at 16 weeks and he hasn't slowed down since.  I knew right away it was him...even the weird sensations at 14 weeks.  It was always in the same spot (where his feet are) and always the same feeling.  Everyone is different.  My SIL didn't feel a thing until 21 weeks...most of my friends felt movement around week 16.  It's so exciting.  So even if you're not sure what you're feeling now, in another week or 2 you may be more sure!  Enjoy!!

  • flutters around 16 weeks...but I wasn't sure of what I was feeling until around 18-19 weeks and DH didn't feel kicks until 23-24 weeks.
  • And DH felt him for the first time last week.  Prett early as someone else said, but it was unmistakable.

  • I first felt her last week, which I was about 19weeks, 3 days.  I pretty much feel her every day now.  It sort of feels like she is tapping me from the inside, and sometimes a flutter like she is rolling around in there.

DH still cannot feel her from the outside, when I was at the Dr. on Monday he said it might take up to 26 weeks till DH will be able to feel her.

  • It was after 20 weeks for me, and I was getting nervous, but I had an "anterior placenta," which was preventing me from feeling her.  Once I did start to feel it, though, it was pretty constant!  :-)
  • 20 weeks was when I really knew that I was feeling the baby.  I was probably about 16/17 weeks when I thought I might be feeling the baby but really wasn't too sure.
  • A few flutters around 15-16 weeks, but nothing substantial until 20+ weeks.  DH has STILL barely felt anything (though he can see it now because my whole belly moves) because every time he tried he/she stops!!
  • I don't think I started to feel it till around 18 weeks and even then I didn' tknow what it was!  I thought my tummy was groweling, but as she got stronger then I knew.  I think that is why they say you feel it sooner with the second child because you know what it feels like.
