Duff I have a 2011 goal race for you
Re: Duff I have a 2011 goal race for you
Uhh...no. Sorry, that's a little more hardcore than I'm willing to do. Hehehe...just b/c you found it makes me question your sanity! Here's the plan though since I manage to leave things out on this board:
08 - marathon
09 - Jay Benson triathlon (May 10, yikes!), ABQ Century (50 mile ride), and a fall marathon (entered NYC lotto, but if I don't get in, I'm looking at Philly...Duke City if I have to).
10 - *Possibly* Mt. Taylor Quad (as a team...I only know how to run/bike! this is way up in the air still), Jemez Mountain 50k, NYC Marathon entry if I don't get in this year, Chicago Marathon if I DO run NYC this year, maybe Kauai Marathon if I enter NYC and don't get in for the second year (does that make sense?). At least one olympic distance triathlon and a full century (100 mile ride) too...not sure which, prob ABQ Century.
2011 - Half Ironman for sure, at least one century ride, NYC Marathon entry (if I haven't gotten in by this point), Marine Corps Marthon if I have run NYC (some other fall back up marathon if I still don't get into NYC).
2012 - If I haven't made it into NYC by this point, I'm automatically in this year...but I'll be deferring my entrance to 2013 most likely b/c this is the year I want to do a full Ironman triathlon. 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.
Plan's not set in stone though...an IM will be pretty hard to fit in w/in 3 years and I'd like to do some other ultras...although I don't know if I'd ever do anything over 50k. MAYBE one 50 miler just to know what it's like.

Wow, marathon shape for 4 years in a row! Go you. So why is NY your big goal? (I know it is a big, famous race, but is there a personal reason?)
You can question my sanity if you want to....I saw that race and thought "oh, fun! I want to do that" then quickly realized that was crazy.
I would say look into the Santa Fe century. Three hard core riders at work do it every year and say it's the best in NM.
I am just tired from thinkingabout all that running!
I did the 25 mile ride of the SF Century last year and I really want to do more this year...but I really don't think I'll be ready. If I do ABQ it'll give me a couple more weeks to prepare. SF was a blast though! So much fun! I'm definitely going to do it next year!
NY just seems like fun...I have a whole list of marathons I want to do...ultimately I want to do 2-3 a year. Plus, my best friend lives in NYC, so it's an extra excuse to go see her.
It's just kind of one of those things that you do if you run marathons...Boston is a big one, but I don't think I'll ever qualify. I'd love to do Chicago, Philly, Marine Corps, Bataan Death March, Honolulu, Nike Women's...I'm actually going to try for the 50/50 club (a marthon in each state). But the holy grail is Ironman....that's actually the main goal.
