Hey again!
First, I want to say I'm sorry to hear about your little parking-lot mishap this morning. I backed into a Mercedes once - not a fun feeling.
I'm at work and I can't email from here - but the time has come already to ask you for some recommendations for Napa/Sonoma! We're trying to find an (afforable) place to stay at the moment, and we want to make sure we're close to good wineries and not out in the boondocks.
Is Calistoga a central town? I've seen a lot there. Where did you guys stay when you went? We had to cut costs and decided to stay only two nights there, so we want something nice, but something $125/night or less. It's not an easy task! :-/
Any rec's are much appreciated - thank you so much for offering your help!
Re: ** Aspen1120 **
Hey,
I believe Calistoga is more central location for Napa and Sonoma. It's closer to Santa Rose and Healdeburg in Sonoma. If you were just going to wineries in Napa, I would actually suggest you stay in St. Helena or Yountville but since you are going to Sonoma too, Calistoga is the best place.
In general, Sonoma is HUGE. I think the best thing to do is to pick a region in Sonoma you want to visit (ie. Russian River Valley or Sonoma Coast or Sonoma Valley). I can suggest a tour guy who can make up itineries that we used. We actually hired him to take us around the Caneros region, which is located between Napa and Sonoma. If you can, I recommed doing that for a day.
In terms of lodging, DH and I stayed in a B&B. You get get value by staying in a B&B, including breakfast and information from people who are extreamly familar with the area.
I can also suggest wineries that we loved....from family wineries to higher end wineries. Napa has a great selection of Cabs and Shriaz because of the location and weather, while Sonoma has great Pinot. Shoot me your email address at aspenbride@gmail.com and I will make some suggestions
