We have a slight ladybug problem in the house...

Normally I love ladybugs, but Briscoe was just causing a ruckus so I went to see what the problem was and one of our sliders is filled w/ ladybugs.  At least 20....I don't feel right killing them, I've always heard it's bad luck.  I guess I'll let Briscoe do what nature tells him to and see how many remain.
I'm a little grossed out by this.  Oh well- at least it's not ants!

Re: We have a slight ladybug problem in the house...

  • We have the same issue.  Apparently ladybugs are attracted to light colored houses.  They come out in the spring and like warmth.  So I am willing to bet that your slider is in the sun, right?  Anyway, I read that they get confused because inside is warmer than outside so they come in when they really want to be outside.  They are gross!
  • If you have a garden, try to shoo them out to it. They are great for gardens. =)

Did you figure out a solution to your slider problem with Anthony being able to open it? The house we're buying has a slider and they have a baby gate in it. I immediately thought of you!
  • One or two isn't gross.  I think they are a sign of good luck.  (I actually found one on the train of my friends wedding dress just as she walked down the aisle and it made me cry!  She was less than thrilled she had a bug on her...lol)

but this many is strange.  I feel like they're gonna eat me alive.   The sliders- all 3 of them are in the sun, and we have a light yellow house...so they just love us.

My kitty is happy, he's got something to do while Anthony naps...lol

  • We have a ladybug issue too.  Flame if you must, but I hate bugs and I smush them when i can.  I see about 5-6 a day - if I catch them, they're goners.  I know it's horrible, but I do not want bugs - of any kind -  in my house.  DH is a "catch and release" type, so it's a perpetual argument.  I also heard that they're attracted to electical workings - like light fixtures and outlets.  I don't know if that's true.
  • you smoosh them!!!!  Oh my!!!

I can't bring myself to do it.  They're too cute...even in these strange large numbers I can't do it.

Normally  I dont' let Briscoe kill them...but today I have no choice.  Still- I won't do it myself.

  • That is so funny! We do as well. They are in our windows! I went to open my windows on Saturday because it was a nice day and saw a whole family. I hate all bugs, they gross me out, so I made DH come and vacuum them up. YUCK! Then I "googled" how to get rid of them, and they said that they find small cracks in your house, reproduce, and then take off when the weather gets warm. HAHA
  • LOL Angela!  I do the same thing.  We have a problem too!  They are in our bedroom (by windows) and in our kitchen windows.  At first they were cute, and I just got them and put them outside.  Well one day, after like the 5th lady bug I had enough!  From now on, whenever I see one or a few at a time, I put them in a napkin and they go right down the toilet.  I hope they die!  I know it's mean, but after all these creatures are beatles and I dont want them in my house!
  • LOL "I hope they die" TOO FUNNY!
