Moms; Q about PP bleeding, may be TMI

At the hospital everyone told me I'd be bleeding for 4 weeks, and kept saying if it's really heavy/doesn't stop/big clot etc to call them. Well, I stopped bleeding completely a few days ago, and I don't know if I should call the midwife office or just wait and bring it up during my PP check up?
I bled for a lot longer then 4 weeks with Arianna because of complications afterwards so I have no idea if it's normal. I'm kinda nervous that one day a clot the size of my head will fall out.
WDYT? Should I call?

Re: Moms; Q about PP bleeding, may be TMI

  • Just because it's other than what you expected, why not call so they can ease your mind?

  • Ditto Duff.  FWIW, I seemed to stop after a few weeks and then I had exactly what you said -- an enormous clot that shared the sh!t out of me.  Needless to say, I called the OB, and he said it was normal.
  • I always say call if something makes you nervous.  I know w/ Anthony I stopped bleeding pretty quickly w/in a week or 2 but then it returned.

  • I would call to ease your mind. With both boys I stopped bleeding within 2 weeks & then it started again about 2 weeks later. It was like that for about 3 months (2 on & 2 off)
  • I had about 2.5 weeks, concluding with 2 huge clots (smaller than my head, but larger than I was ever expecting!!) and a couple of days of spotting.  And then that was it....
  • Okay, even though this post is a TMI post, I got such a chuckle at your line of "a clot the size of my head"....I would freak out, but it's quite funny.
