I posted below about my cousin and her "recommendations". I'm not really loving her suggestions, so I'm looking for others in the Hrtfd area. It will be small (30 ppl max).
These were the places she mentioned: Mill on the River, Adams Mill (location of rehearsal dinner), Jonathon Pascos, Chowder Pot, Nutmeg, and Apricots.
I say no to Chowder Pot, Nutmeg, and Apricots.
Any other suggestions?
Re: wedding shower locations
can I ask - doesn't anyone think its weird that the bride is essentially planning her own shower.... sorry Cora I don't mean to stir up trouble. But as a MOH if my "bride" sat me down an told me where I could host a shower for her I think I would be peeved.....yes indeed!
to be helpful hmmmmm well there is the corner pug - they seperate off a portion. but from teh sounds of her choices might be too relaxed.
what about the avon old farms inn? I don't know what their prices would be.
too bad you aren't looking out Tolland way - we went to a shower recently at Monets Table that was awesome! had our own rooma nd the food was yummmmmy!
hmmmm where else....I know there are a ton of places in glastonbury and I am 100% blanking....
The Inn at Middletown is really nice and the food is really good. They can definitely accomodate 30 people. We had a brunch there the day after our wedding.
The Baci Grill in Cromwell is another good option....we had our RD there and they have a really nice private banquet room in the back.
It may be out of the way, but the Riverhouse has a banquet room (I think it's called the River Room) and it's really beautiful...and has a nice view of the CT river. It's down in Haddam though...but definitely worth it!!! (I had my wedding reception there).
When my mom was looking into it someone recommended the Pond House Cafe in Hartford. I don't know anything about it but it might be worth looking into. I think it is in Elizabeth Park?
Cora - Oh we so need to meet for coffee
Oh, I dont think its that big a deal to have the bride plan her own shower.
When I make OctBride throw me a baby shower I am totally going to plan it and let her pick up the tab.......kidding, kidding. We'll split it 80/20.....again, joking.
I think its absurd that this bride had the nerve to even start this conversation, let alone make "suggestions" about where to hold the shower.
Baci Grill - Cromwell
Confetti - Plainville
Grist Mill - Farmington
J Timothy's - Plainville
I also second the Pond House at Elizabeth Park. I believe it's on the WH/Hartford line. Amazing food!
I'd have to 2nd Mill on the River...I had my baby shower there, my sis had hers there, and my friend just had her bridal shower there b/c she liked my baby shower so much.
They really do a good job and are reasonably priced.
