B&B in Newport RI

Hi Ladies

Jake and I would like to do a B&B for our 1 year anniversary. We were thinking of going to Newport. Any suggsetions? I've never been to a B&B before so I'm not sure what to expect....I just think it sounds fun :)

TIA

Re: B&B in Newport RI

  • Oh fun. My BIL is working as a valet at the Vanderbilt. I'm not sure if it's a B&B but it looks really nice. B&Bs are fun. We went to one for our honeymoon in NH and we've been to a few in NH before then. It's not for everyone and each one is set up differently.

  • I don't know, but who's babysitting???  Need a volunteer?
  • We stayed at the hotel viking in Newport and loved it. It's probably more of a hotel then a B&B but it was very charming and the staff was wonderful.

  • Not sure about Newport, but I have been to the PegLegInn in Rockport, MA & loved it.

  • We stayed at the Attwater Villa, it is in a great location and very quaint.  http://www.attwatervilla.com/

  • Wow I remember when you just got married it seems like it was only a short time ago... but its been almost a year... thats crazy.. time flys when your having fun i guess :)
  • DH and I stayed at the Pilgrim House Inn for our "mini moon" before we left for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed it. The location was convenient the price was reasonable. It's a low key and relaxing place.

  • Seems like you have some recs already, I just wanted to add "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY". Newport is so beautiful!  You'll have a great time walking around, enjoying the scenery and restaurants!  Sounds like a lot of fun.
  • as Steffie mentioned B&B can be set up differently. I've stayed at one where there was a continental breakfast set up from a set time.

Then DH and I stayed at a B&B in NY where the owner actually cooked you breakfast. You had a choice between two entrees and all of the guests sat at the same table.

I really did not like that set up. I felt like we had to be up at a certain time and I didn't really like having breakfast with strangers, as I'm not a morning person.

Oh and at the B&B in NY we weren't given a key. We had to knock when we got home. Therefore we didnt' stay out late because we felt bad.

Not all B&B are like this. Just look into it before you book. GL!

  • The place we stayed on our honeymoon had a huge menu. We were spoiled and I swear put on 10lbs from all we ate! We went to one where there was a buffet (personally didn't like this) and another, they also had a few choices. I've never been to one that made you all sit together. At each place, we had our own table. It really depends on the place.

  • We got engaged at a B&B in Newport.  I am not really a fan.  Having breakfast with strangers is not my cup of tea and DH hates cheese and needs his eggs done well, so that can make breakfast difficult.

We stayed at the Artful Lodger.  It was fine, as far as B&Bs go.  When we went back, we stayed at the Hotel Viking and loved it.
