WWYD?

We were supposed to have our windows installed today. A few weeks back a guy came out to measure them and the windows were ordered based on those measurements. Well today when the installers came they found out that the measurements were completley wrong and the windows that were ordered were not the right size. So now we have to wait till the right sized ones come in.
DH took the day off today for the install. I am tempted to call the office and complain and ask for a discount.
Would you call? How much a discount would you ask for?

Re: WWYD?

  • I would definitely complain - those who do not ask shall not receive. See what they offer but ask them what they think is appropriate due to your DH's inconvience, say 10-15%??

  • I would call and expain DH took a day from work and say you want some sort of compensation for this or you will cancel the order and take your business elsewhere.

  • How much would DH have made if he worked today? That's the cost of their screw up to you, so I'd  look for at least that.  Then there is the inconvenience of having to go through this all again.  Will you need to take more time off to be there when the window guy comes out to measure again (I'd request that their most experienced measurer come out this time) - how much will that "cost" you in vacation time?  I'd total that up add in a bit for the frustration factor, and give them a call.  You could play the % game or you could just ask for a number off.  I'd definitely threaten to take my business elsewhere.

  • I am of the belief that the worst that could come of asking is that you get nothing - just like you would if you didn't ask.  I would totally call and ask.  I wouldn't suggest anything - I'd let them say something.  So if they said they'd give me a 10% discount, I'd say something like, "Well I was thinking more like 15% - is that something you can do?"
