DH and I are totally ready to start a family. We keep going back
and forth on when to start. I am a teacher and think I should
take the school year into consideration when TTC. In my perfect world I
would be able to slide from maternity leave right into summer vacation.
However, it is my greatest fear that we won't be able to get pregnant
right away or at all. And I really don't want to wait until July to
start TTC. From the standpoint of being a teacher, am I being selfish if
we start now instead of waiting until this summer (on the off chance we get pregnant pretty quickly)?
Re: TTC question
Good luck TTC!
I know what you mean, though, about wanting to time it just right because you're a teacher. You're ideal time to get pregnant would probably be September/October because then you'd be due in June/July. You never know what TTC might bring you. You may regret not TTC right away or you may get pregnant right away. There's definitely know way to plan!
Good luck!
I hear you on wanting to time things. I'm facing a similar situation. I started TTC in January, though timing wasn't great (EDD would be early October). Last month would have been great (EDD would be mid November, so my maternity leave would run into my winter break). Unfortunately, no luck (chemical pg) last month. If I'm pg this cycle, my EDD would be 12/15 or so, so the first part of maternity would be my winter break; timing is still great (was also when DD was born and worked out well). But you know what? Third cycle may not be the charm. In which case I may take a couple months off to aim for summer break. But what if it doesn't happen then???
Good luck w/ whatever you decide. Baby dust!
Good luck either way!
I took off 4 months and will be returning at the end of the month. I will go back for 7 weeks and then be off for the summer.
You might want to decide the minimum/maximum amount of time you will be planning to take off if you were to have a baby any other time of year. It might help you to plan for the "what if". For instance, if you ended up having a June or July baby will taking only the summer off be enough for you? Would you want to miss the beginning of the school year?
Lots of luck to you! I hope you get pg quickly!
