why am I like this?!!

Ok, so I've never gardened before and want to add some flowers to our yard.   I just got back from KMart where I decided to get a package of hollyhock seeds b/c I love those flowers. I found out reading the packet that apparently they have to be started from trays indoors...so I decided what the heck I'll give it a whirl and bought potting soil and the peat moss 'containers' and a plastic tray....

And so now,  as excited I am to start this, and try my hand at a green thumb, here I am upstairs in the office procrastinating....I went online to look up some tips, and then from there went surfing the net, and here I am 'nesting!   I should have started this an hour ago now!

I realized that I do this way too often--I'll get materials for some new project, and then as excited as I am for the outcome, and to do something creative and learn something new, I freeze up and never start the darn project to begin with....

I am sure it's because on some level I don't want to fail at it, so I'm not starting it to begin with??!  Am I the only one like this?!

This is a part of my personality totally annoys me--I want to kick my own a*s right now. I guess I figured if I post about it,  and admit to it formally and recognize this flaw, maybe it'll get me off my duff!

Ok, here I go...I'm logging off....(now let's just hope I don't get distracted by the TV...or sitting down to read magazines or the new LL Bean cataog... Wish me luck..as the Little Engine once said: "I think I can, I think I can I think I can...."

Re: why am I like this?!!

  • you CAN complete things!! you completed a knitted blanket and you made baklava!!! Both take patience and a lot of time!  You can do this and once you see blossoms, you'll be so thankful that you did!
  • well I'm glad I'm not seeing a little bubble next to your screen name...hoping that means your doing some planting! :) You're gonna be so happy when you see those little sprouts...it doesn't take long at all. I was so friggin excited when my little tulips popped their heads up a few weeks ago...I planted them last fall and am so happy that they decided to actually grow, since I've never planted bulbs before. When those little guys have bloomed you'll have to share some pics:)
  • Mission Accomplished....seedlings are under-way!

Thanks for the vote of confidence gals....can't wait to see some progess with the seeds! Here's hoping...

    :) lisa
  • You can do it!! seeds are easy :) if you run in to any issues just page me. besides if your first batch dies you can just try it again because its not like seeds are expensive AND you have plenty of time to get holy hocks going :)

    Have fun!

.....tomorrow I will take a picture of all my seedlings and use it as my siggie
