breakfast ideas

Hi friends,

 Friday mornings my team rotates bringing breakfast for the whole team. Tomorrow is my turn and I am plum out of good ideas... I was seriously considering doing 100 calorie packs of various snacks, and energy drinks, but I don't know if anyone else would be into that.

Any suggestions? the bonus fun part is that tomorrow is crazy Hawaiian shirt day for our department, so something Hawaiian themed would be even better.

 Thanks!

Re: breakfast ideas

  • a) that is a really fun idea!

    b) what about hawaiian sweet rolls, like the king's hawaiian brand with butter and tropical jam on the side. you could also add some chopped pineapple or mango or pick up juice and fruit-flavored tea.

  • I don't know what the dynamics of your office are and what people usually bring, but I'd honestly be pretty sad to get 100-calorie packs for breakfast. If I were to bring that in to my office, there are people who would seriously talk sh!t about it for days.

    It's not terribly original, but bagels from Panera are pretty popular over here. Maybe with some fresh cut fruit, including pineapples as a nod to the Hawaiian theme.

  • One of my coworkers made these dishes for a breakfast thing at work and it was a big hit! They are really good and dont seem too hard to make!

     Zuccini-Almond Appetizers

    1 cup Bisquick baking mix
    1/2 cup finely chopped onion
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
    1/2 cup vegetable oil
    1/2 tsp. seasoned salt, if desired
    1/2 tsp. dried marjoram or oregano leaves
    Dash of pepper
    4 eggs
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    3 cups thinly sliced zucchini (about 4 small)

    Pre-heat oven to 350 F;
    Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2";
    Mix all ingredients except zucchini in large bowl;
    Stir in zucchini;
    Spread in pan;
    Bake until golden brown, about 25 min;
    Cut into pieces, about 2x1", 4 doz. appetizers

    Easy Bacon Appetizers

    15 slices bacon, crisply cooked, crumbled
    1 1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese (5 oz)
    1 cup chopped onion (or 4 green onions)
    1 cup Original Bisquick mix
    2 cups milk
    4 eggs
    1/4 tsp. pepper

    Pre-heat oven to 400 F;
    Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2";
    Sprinkle bacon, cheese and onion into pan;
    In medium bowl, beat remaining ingredients until blended; pour into pan;
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean;
    Let stand 5 minutes before serving

  • I am sure my team would not be happy with 100 cal packs... ;) Luckily, we all talk sh-t to eachother regularly, so it wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.

    thanks for the idea, Ajones. I think I will pick up some hawaiian rolls & fruit and probably a couple of quiches as well. Super!

  • Our every-other-Friday payday breakfast burritos always make me happy.
  • thank you for the recipes. To be honest, I am waaay too lazy to get up and bake anything before work, but I'll save those for later.

    I love me some breakfast burritos, but we have those about every other week here and I was hoping to do something different. I've always been difficult like that. Wilted Flower

  • I wonder if there is any way to request Hawaiin themed Krispy Kremes?

    Big Smile

  • Do you have a Corner Bakery near you?  Don't they deliver?  Maybe you could just buy a mixed pastry/baked goods package?  Noah's is also good because they have big things of coffee for groups now.
  • Spam & rice = Hawaiian breakfast to me.  But something tells me 100 calorie packs would be better than that for most.
