***Simi & OHFallBride***

My husband grides his teeth in his sleep.  I couldn't stand it so I make him wear a mouth guard to bed.  It's good for both of us....I can sleep and he saves his teeth.

Re: ***Simi & OHFallBride***

  • yeah i talked to my dentist about it as well
going to have to do something, she's trying to get pre auth from my insurance to cover it .. does he wear a special mouth guard or just a sports one?

i used to wear a sports one lol but it was a lil too big for my mouth :p
  • Does he sleep ok with them in? I can't imagine sleeping well with something like that in my mouth. We have talked about it before, but haven't been proactive. I'm going to have to mention that idea again. Thanks!
  • Yeah, he sleeps just fine with it in.  I'm sure it took some getting used to at first, but he's been using it now for 2 years or so.  He didn't want to pay the extra money to go through the dentist to get a special one, so he is using a sport one.  He first bought just a regular sport piece, but as you can imagine, it was too big.  So then he bought a smaller sport piece that you can mold yourself.  I think he got it at D-i-c-k-$.
  • Butting in: I have a guard from the dentist.  I had retainers after braces, so I was used to sleeping with something in my mouth.  There are 2 kinds, I have one where the resting point is on the back teeth.  There are newer, more expensive ones where the resting point is on the front teeth (proven to be more relaxing to the jaw muscles apparently).  Both sit over the bottom teeth like a retainer.  I love mine. Makes me happy.
