Craigslist vs E-Bay

What's the difference?  I want to sell some Longaberger baskets and don't k now which one I should go with. Thoughts?

Re: Craigslist vs E-Bay

  • with Craigslist there isn't a listing fee and you are pretty much guaranteed to get someone local (so you can say "pick up only"--you can say this on Ebay, but won't get as good a response).  If you're willing to ship, I might go with Ebay--you'll reach a broader audience and, thus, might make more money.  You can always set a reserve so you make sure you make as much as you want for each basket.

    Good luck!

  • I personally prefer ebay.  Craigslist is just like a free newspaper listing.  Ebay is auctions, so you can usually end up getting more than you thought you would.  Also, ebay helps you collect your payment and the listing stays up for a week.  Craigslist doesn't have a good search function (that I know of) so you just have to hope that someone sees what you're selling and wants it before you get bumped to the bottom of the page.
  • I use craigslist for big items I wouldn't want to ship, and items that don't seem to have a lot of action on ebay, because it doesn't cost anything to list on ebay and if it doesn't sell it doesn't cost me anything.  Ebay would probably be best, assuming they are baskets that get action on ebay (do a search to check) otherwise you can put on craigslist.

Oh also, ebay is auction style, craigslist you put what you want OBO.

  • For your baskets, I'd do Ebay. Only because it'll reach a broader audience and those aren't something that are outlandish cost-wise to ship.
  • I also think that people are Craiglist are looking for really good bargains. You'll probably make more on EBay.
