POLL: Who has their passport?

I just sent my stuff in today to get one!

I am wierdly excited about getting mine, when I was little I had a little paper one that I pretended was real.

I can't WAIT for MEXICO!!

Re: POLL: Who has their passport?

  • I do.  But it has the wrong name.  And I am so pissed I have to pay to change it.  Since I paid to REPLACE it last winter, before the D.
  • i do
i have had one since being about 4 months old
i like looking back at the old ones to remember all the places i've been.
  • Nope--went to Mexico on our HM before the passport requirements.  I suppose I should probably apply but we aren't real big travelers, so I'm not in a huge hurry.
  • Not me, but I need to get mine before our cruise in January.  How long does it take to get them?
  • I have one.  Just got it in December so it hasn't been used yet.
  • I do, but it still has my maiden name on it.  Does anyone know if I can bring a marriage license with me to prove my new name, or if I HAVE to have it changed?
  • missingjason: just book your tickets in your maiden name if you don't plan on changing it in the passport

the regular passport + marriage license won't cut it...

  • I have mine...I felt the same way, wierdly excited. It was like getting a ticket to go wherever I would like to. :)

If you think it's fun to have one, wait until they put stamps in it. w00t!
  • I do! I had one in my maiden name for the HM and then had to get a new one last year for our trip to Ireland. It's sitting in the drawer with my birth certificate and Chris' stuff. We'll be using them again next summer (2009) for a trip to Greece!

  • I have had one since I was 8, but my current one has my maiden name, ugh. So, I need to get a new one but am being cheap. I wish I would have gotten on the ball when I got married, it was only $30 to change until that Dec.
  • I have mine but have to send it in again to change it to my married name before I go out of the country again.  I figure I'll make DH get his at the same time I do that.
  • another *good to know*

it's a lot faster to get a name change / renewal passport back then a brand new one due to background checks and such

when i sent mine in for name change i had it back within a week, we sent my husbands in for a first time passport at the same time and it took abut a month to get back....

  • On the State Dept website, they say that you should get your passport within 6-8 weeks of submitting your stuff. When I got my first passport before our HM, I received in less than four weeks (didn't expedite; paid for regular time...applied in December 2005). When I sent my stuff in last year for the name change before our Ireland trip, it took exactly 10 weeks but there were major delays in all passport processing times and 10 weeks is what they were saying. I sent it in back in February 2007 I believe.

  • I got a new one last spring because we went to Canada for our HM and my previous one had expired. I still have to get my name changed on it, though, but at least I can get a new picture at the same time. Cord Camera's passport camera did goofy stuff with the lighting and made my skin color look like that kid in Willy Wonka who gets turned into a blueberry!

  • I have to get mine. I haven't needed it until now. yeah, I know, that's sad.

  • I do!  but, now that I am married, it has the wrong name.  i have to get it updated asap for our august trip to jamacia.

    sandals jamacia  (The OFfice anyone...?)

  • My DH and I both had to get one for our destination wedding in Jamica. But just like everyone else mine has my maiden name. boo!!

  • I don't, I've never been out of the country except for Canada.
  • I jave had one cinse high schol, but my passport is still in my maiden name.
  • I don't have one. I need to get one though.
  • I do...I do! And I will be using it for a second time in December!!

    Yeah VACATION!
  • I do, but it doesn't have my correct last name in it anymore.
  • i need to renew mine because it is about to expire soon. i'm so sad b/c i loved seeing the pages almost full with all the different stamps. (i used to travel internationally for work a lot in addition to personal vacations).

  • I've had one since I was 17.  But mine has the wrong name as well.  Need to get that updated but don't plan on leaving the country any time soon.
  • I do. I'm on my second and love looking through the stamps to remember all of the great trips.
