just read your post about co. benefits and OPAs
that's exactly what we're dealing with now. mgmt is concerned with the low morale and high turnover so they are holding meetings to see what they can do. only their answers seem to be that they are making it harder to get promoted and that just working there should make us feel really good about ourselves. yeah.
so anyways i'm going to approach with some ideas to do in the middle of the road.
Re: -RieTea-
People didn't say the real reason they quit when they left so of course management had no clue or they live in denial. (people would say I'm overworked and underappreciated and underpaid 100 times and then suddenly leaves and the reason is "to pursue other interests....um, ok).
Anyways, they really didn't change anything and I get super duper annoyed with it all if I allow it...but working at home most of the time really helps.
I absolutely HATE review time b/c it just brings up all these issues...you have to do xyz to get promoted one year, so you do it and then it is you have to do abc the next year. So much of it is mgmt perception, who you work with and how they are perceived, such an annoying game!!!
Mgmt has pretty much nothing to do with the morale committee (other than acknowledge there is a group of people that bake and make cards). There is a group of woman that think acknowledging things and having some social time makes it a better place, so they do it.
We don't have an actual party time or anything, they just put the stuff out and send an email saying it is there and why...and hope people say hello as they grab their cake and run back to their offices.
*deep breaths*
hope your meeting goes well, let me know if you make any 'progress'
i completely feel you on that word for word :-)
my goals for the past two years have fit the job description of the position 3 levels up from mine, and i completed them 100%. and now instead of looking for a promotion at the end of this year, i'm being told to be happy i just work here and know i do a good job.
sigh
shutting up now!
