Restaurants that do fun things for birthdays?

My little sister is turning 18 next week. Her friends want to take her to dinner somewhere where they make you do funny things when it's your bday. Someone told them Hooters and they thought that would be funny but that's not my sister's style. So I'm trying to give them "helpful suggestions" on where else they could go. :)
I remember Joe's Crab Shack used to do crazy things. Anywhere else that you gals can suggest?
TIA

Re: Restaurants that do fun things for birthdays?

  • My husband has gone to the Japanese Steakhouse downtown since he was little for his birthday. They sing and everyone at the table has to play an instrument for the happy birthday song. The food's not bad either.
  • I think its Lonestar, might be Outback.  But, I was there one night and they made this poor girl get up on a sadle (sp?) while they sang happy birthday to her.  It was great, and I wasn't even in the party.  They did some other things to other people (3 birthdays there that night).  One was they sang and shinned a lot of lights onto the birthday boy.  I don't remember the third.  The first was def. the best.

  • I believe they have you wear a big Sombraro at El Vaquero.
  • YourSong, I think it's LoneStar...we just took a friend there for his birthday in February (at least I think it was Lonestar--it was a steakhouse on the east side of Hilliard Rome (across from Outback)) and he had to sit on a saddle...it was pretty funny.
  • Allison, isn't the steakhouse across from Outback on Hilliard Rome called Texas Roadhouse? or is that on down the road? DH and I used to go there when it was new. now it's gone down hill in our opinion.
  • I second the suggestion for Japanese Steakhouse.  The old guy that sings Happy Birthday is awesome.  Plus it is a good place for a big group of people.
  • There isn't a Lone Star on Hilliard Rome, so it's Texas Roadhouse you're thinking of. I can't wait to be able to have $1 margaritas on Thursday nights again!
  • It was Texas Roadhouse.  DH and I don't eat a lot of meat, so I don't know the steak houses too well.
