I'm just wondering how hiring looks in your district for next school year.

I'm licensed for PreK-3rd grade and really, REALLY need a permanent position for next school year. :)  Over spring break, I'm writing all of my cover letters and mailing them out with my resume.  I was just wondering how things are looking in the different districts and if there was anything I should know that will help me out and more likely to get a position.

Thank you for the help!!!   :)

Re: teachers

  • Have you checked the ODE website?  It's a good place to get ideas and post your resume.

I know it's not the most appealing district, but I work in Whitehall (and I like it!) and there are always openings.  I'll keep my eyes open for elementary positions.

  • I'm in olentangy, we have tons of openings.
  • I'm in Hilliard, our levy didn't pass and we will now be having lay-offs.  I would stay away right now.
  • I am in Newark and hiring will be tight---- but if you are still looking in July watch newark's site....that is when they do most of their hiring after July 11th.

On your License.... They are going back to a PK-5 license since they have created a horrible  job market.  You might inquire at ODE about being grandfathered in to that license.... I plan to next year when I renew mine.

  • thanks for the info!!!  I'm pretty much an ODE stalker right now, but I was just wondering how things were sounding within the different districts.  I really appreciate the insight and heads up!

lostinplanning... thanks for the info.  I hadn't heard that; my two year provisional is up this summer and I'm going to have to take a class to renew... I'll have to inquire about that for this coming summer (though, being a little people kind of person, I'm not sure if I'll want to be able to go up to 5th grade.)  ;)
  • Postings are already going up in SWCS.  Although they're internal postings, they may be taking outside applicants.
    SurveyBio updated 04/2011
  • Columbus City usually has positions in Pre-K.  Although, I don't know with the new laws starting next year.  They will probably need to hire more internant teachers (Yea me.)
