Tell me about hotels you've stayed in in NYC. We're looking in Times Square and will be going with my parents (will be getting two separate rooms). We don't want to scrimp too much but definitely aren't going ALL out...just something that's pretty nice, a decent size, comfy...
Suggestions would be SO helpful! Thanks!
Re: Need NYC Help
Hi Allison!
We've stayed at the Super 8 in Times Square. It's actually pretty nice for a Super 8. The rooms are decently sized, especially for an old NYC building.

We've also stayed at The Roosevelt. It's so super nice. Large rooms, gorgeous architecture, and decently priced. It's not in Times Square, but it is still in Midtown.

Have fun planning, and enjoy NYC. I haven't been there for 5 years, and I LOVE to visit. I'm craving another trip soon.
Personally I would avoid staying in Times Square as it is chaotic and one giant tourist trap. Everything will be more expensive because it's Times Square.
I have stayed at: Crowne Plaza, Both Sheratons, Doubletree, Wellington, Park Central, and Comfort Inn.
I would reccommend any of them except the Wellington. It is old, smelly, and not very clean. The best ones by far are Crowne Plaza, and Sheraton Towers. They are also the most expensive.
Just an FYI you will be lucky if you find a room that is a decent size. It just really doesn't happen in NYC, but it's okay since you won't be in your room much.
Have fun!
In response to Melissa's post, I feel the opposite. I reccommend staying in Times Square, especially if it is your first time to the city. I have gone at least twice a year for the past 5 years, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It is expesnive everywhere in NYC, but so worth it!
I do reccommend venturing out and eating at places other than TS.
Don't leave without eating in Little Italy! YUM!
