DH got a call a couple weeks ago that someone he worked closely with at OSU is ill and will be requiring treatment this quarter. They asked if he'd be able to cover a class. Feeling loyalty to his old program and this person, he really wanted to help out.
They called today and said they really need him. It's a class he's taught a few times before, and doesn't intend to put a lot of new prep-time into it. He got approval from his department and the university provost here, despite being so new.
Keep in mind... (1) class starts in a week and a half, (2) our baby is due in 8 weeks, (3) DH is a full-time professor already and teaching 3 classes through my due date and then 1 class daily for 5 weeks from May-June, (4) significant travel time going down to OSU twice a week
AAAaaaggghhh! Crazy! I think I'll be okay with him being so busy (and grumpy), as long as I don't have any complications.
Re: OMG - we are CRAZY
Lol Julie, that does sound crazy! But in a good way!
Good luck with the juggle of all things, i think you'll be fine
I kind of know what it's like to be doing 100 things at a time, and though it's overwhelming I seem to like the mayhem cuz i always saying i'm going to have life "calm down" soon and it never does...
thankfully my husband USED to think i was crazy, but now he helps add to the mayhem!
At least the extra money will be nice.
I'm really only concerned leading up to having the baby. But, as long as we're both healthy and not too stressed out, our house can be a mess and other things can be neglected a bit. After the baby comes, I'll be on leave anyway, and DH will have his turn once I go back to work and he has his summer break
Julie, ya that's crazy, but I agree the money will help out alot. There are SO many expenses with a new baby.
On the bright side I think it's wonderful that your DH is so awesome that he as two top schools wanting him to teach for them.
