Baptism gifts

We recently went to a religious store to buy a baptism gift and were kind of disappointed by their selection. Most of the stuff seemed overly decorated, ornate, or fragile, and it's not really something that I'd think most people would want to put in their kid's room.

I know we will have some more baptisms coming up this year, including one where I'll be the godmother (yay!), so I was hoping for some suggestions on good gifts you've given or received.

Re: Baptism gifts

  • Check out: www.abbeypress.com they have some great baptism gifts!

  • What about a children's prayer book, then write a note on the inside to the child. This would be great to give to your Godchild, you are starting your spiritual guiding. I don't know what religion they, but an ornate Rosary would be a nice gift as well if they are Catholic.
  • I gave my niece a nice baby bracelet for her baptism. I also remember her grandparents giving her a small diamond cross necklace that even made me jealous. But she wears it all on special occasions and hasn't broken anything.
  • I like the necklace idea - something that they could wear as they grow up would be nice.

I've done baby/kid friendly rosaries for my goddaughters (they're Catholic). But, the store I used to go to is closing :(  For the last one I got a pretty pink rosary, a little keepsake box, and wrote a nice note for her.
  • I gave my Godson a Noah's Ark frame from Things Remembered with his name and baptism date engraved on it. Unfortunetely, his Godfather had the same idea and got him the exact same thing- same font and everything. We had a good laugh over it...
