Yup, it's probably me that you recognized at the Y a few years ago. I was one of the supervisors in the mornings. It was before I got married (seems like a lifetime ago!).
The memberships are hard to figure out. They don't really explain things very well. The land aerobics classes are free with the type of membership you had before.....but the program membership won't get you much (unless you want yoga, pilates, or water aerobics). It's kind of explained here:

Weird story....I went to Urgent Care last week because my dr. office was closed and I had a UTI, so I wanted to get some antibiotics. I walked in to the Urgent Care (on Hamilton past Meijer), and they said as I was signing in "just to let you know, it's a 2 hour wait," so I was walking out (didn't want to wait that long), and this woman who was also waiting said "you look really familiar, do I know you from somewhere?" So I looked at her, recognized her from somewhere, and immediately thought it was from the Y, since I know half of Gahanna because of working at the Y. But then I said "I think you were my high school Spanish teacher." It was Mrs. Kotalo!! (is that the class I had with you?) Anyway, she asked me what I was doing now, since it was like 9 years ago that I had her, and I said "I teach high school Spanish...." She thought that was hilarious...'til she realized I wasn't kidding. Small world, I guess.
Good stuff. Just thought I'd share. :-)
Re: ** &d&m&y **
That's so funny about Mrs. Kotalo! Do you remember that she used to have us try to guess the origin/ethnicity of her last name and I don't think she ever told us? That still bothers me. I want to know!
And thanks for that link. I thought that program membership sounded too good to be true. I do really love the Gahanna Y, but the adult price just seems so expensive when I already do cardio and weights at home.... But I might just have to bite the bullet and sign up so I can do all the classes.
I can honestly say that I don't remember much about her class. I remember listening to songs on Fridays.....and then Dana Philp and I had to film a video of us singing our own song at the end of the year. Other than that, I think I've tried to forget most of high school. :-)
After working at the Y, I haven't been back, but I'm thinking of getting a membership also. I had a baby 5 months ago and would love to start working out. But even with an eliptical and Bow Flex at home, I don't work out at all! Maybe buying a membership will motivate me. :-)
Maybe I'll see you around!
