birthdays in your office

We were giving people balloons, from the company on their birthday.  We learned recently that they are setting off our alarm at night.  I was wondering if you had any ideas that would allow that person to stand out but not set off our alarm.

Suggestions?

We want it to stand out in our cube farm.

THANKS!

Re: birthdays in your office

  • Can you decorate their desk?  Happy birthday banner, crepe paper, etc.?
  • It sounds like your alarm has a motion detector that the helium baloons were setting off.  Signs, general decorations for their cube as the PP suggested could be fun.  Also you could get some sort of sign that clips to the top of the cube and stands above the cube that says "it's my birthday" and points to the person's birthday it is.  Just an idea.
  • Can't you just do a smaller balloon arrangement (plus other decorations), but with the stipulation that they must go home with the birthday person that day?
  • What about the staionary ballons on sticks that don't move?
  • My manager always brings in cake or cookies or donuts for whomever's birthday it is, sets it on their desk, then sends out an email to everyone telling them to wish that person a happy birthday and grab a treat while they're there.
