looking for a Dyson?

On woot.com they are selling a DC07 for $220 +$5 shipping.  They normally retail for $400.  It is refurbished but it comes with a 6-month warranty from Dyson.  DH is being a butt and won't let me buy one :o(

Re: looking for a Dyson?

  • No money for it right now, but I wanted to vouch for woot.com as being totally legit.  We bought DH a receiver from there recently and it came and they charged us correctly and everything.

  • Thanks!  I'm going to call DH and discuss.  I just discovered woot.com and I love it!
  • Wow thats a steal, I am going to have to look into that. We have three dogs I need something that can handle all the dog hair. Do you know if they work well if you have pets?
  • cjn-

I don't have one, but my cousin does.  She has 2 dogs...she used her old vacuum and then used the new dyson and was amazed at how much hair it picked up that her old one didn't get.  I hear it's the best for pet hair.
  • Arg! I really want to get one before the baby arrives. BUT I am holding out for a purple one that is specifically for pets.
  • cjn-

we have 2 dogs (1 who sheds like crazy) and it works wonders!!!
  • Thats good to know. Thanks.
  • I can also vouch for them. You would not believe the stuff they pull out of the carpet. We have two dogs (both pretty good shedders) and the purple Dyson is amazing.

This is weird, but before I got my purple one, I took my aunt's yellow one over to my parents' house to show them. They had just had the cleaning lady there a day or so earlier and I vacuumed with the Dyson and it got so much stuff the other vacuum had missed. I heart Dysons. :)
  • FYI - The only difference between the yellow Dyson and the purple "animal" Dyson is an attachment.  You can buy the animal attachment for your yellow Dyson for less than $50 (might be $20, I don't remember).

  • Are they only used for carpets?
  • OMG... we're so tempted....  Our vacuum is suffering.
  • I'm always thrifty (call me cheap!)..and dh is even worse.  I found it last yr at Kohls.com for just over $300.  We both thought I was crazy, but we bought it.  It was the BEST money ever spent!  I was scared at what we got out of our carpet w/just 1 cat!  We even got  dog hair from the prev. owner which was 6 yrs ago!  I also took it to my parents who have not had an animal for at least 20 yrs..are pretty clean (think old) and had just vacumed.  I filled the canister and too got dog hair!  Can you imagine...20 yr since they had the dog!  YIKES!!!!
    I say go for it!
    Beth
  • We use ours on our carpets, hardwood, ceiling fans, and sofas. It kills me everytime we sweep how much cat hair it pulls up.

On a side note, I am an attachment junkie and the reason we went with the animail was for the extra attachements, buying them seperatly was going to be more money. I priced it before we bought it. If you are not going to use all the attachements go with the yellow one.

It is the best investment we bought for the house.
