Hi everyone! We are looking to purchase our first home soon and being a big planner I have some questions for other homeowners! I know things will vary based on an individual house but I am just trying to get an idea.
FYI: We are looking at homes that are roughly 1800 sf
How much do you pay a month for:
Water/Sewer
Trash
Gas
Electric
Re: $ Poll
At our Bexley house, we paid $100/mo. each for electric and gas. As for water/sewer/trash, we paid around $60/mo. total. Granted, it was an older home (built in 1920), so I don't know how much that factors into things.
We have a 1500 sq ft. home with columbus utilities. Built early 1990's.
Water/Sewer $60/quarter
Trash: included in the taxes (but $5/month optional for recycling)
Gas: $68/month
Electric $76/month
My home is 107 years old. I won't scare you off of home ownership by telling you our utility costs. [We're working on some stuff that will help us for next year]
Just keep in mind that older homes may be beautiful, but they can be a killer on the budget!
two-story 1500 sq ft home with Cbus utilities:
Water/Sewer/Trash: $75/qtr
Gas (heat, water heater): During winter, close to $150 (but we keep our house at 64?) and during the winter, closer to $20
Electric (stove, A/C, all other appliances): We have the A/C on almost as soon as the heat goes off, as we can't open windows because of my bad allergies. During the summer it got up to about $120 and during the winter it is about $30 or $40.
Our home is about 1250-1300 sq ft.
Water: $70 - $80 a month
Trash: $60 a quarter
Gas: N/A
Electric: $80 - $160 depending on the month and how much we use the heat/air conditioning
Our house is about 1800 sq. ft. and we live in Dublin. If you are looking for houses in Dublin/Worthington about the same size, there are some for sale in our neighborhood that are cute
Water--apx. $160/quarter
Trash--$0
Gas--$75/month (we are on the budget plan)
Electric--$85/month (we are on the budget plan)
Keep in mind too that some communities around Columbus, Upper Arlington being one example, charge for solid waste by the bag. Right now, it's $3.10 per trash sticker but the price is going down to $2.40 soon. That price is per 50 lb bag.
