My mother is a published author!

My mother started dealing with chronic illness (mostly pain issues) several years ago through writing poetry.  Most of it is religious in nature, but a lot has been to sort of document different events in her life.  At some point, she got connected with Christian publishers, and they asked her to compile her work into a book!

It's a bit weird.... poems about me and the rest of my family for sale at Barnes&Noble and Amazon, but I'm really proud of her.

On a funny note, she just "cemented" Amelia's middle name.  I have told her repeatedly that it wasn't decided, but there it is... in the book.

Re: My mother is a published author!

  • That is awsome for your mother. Congrats!  As far as the middle name goes it sounds like the beginning of a fmaily joke especially if you decide to go with something else.
  • That's fantastic! What an accomplishment for her. :)
  • WOW! She'll be rich and famous! When will the book be in stores? What's it called?
  • Julie!  That's fantastic!  I can't even imagine how proud you must be.  Congratulations!!!
  • I'm doubt it will make her a lot of money, because I'm not sure who will buy it (especially since she got copies for her family and friends).    :)

But I think it was awfully therapeutic for her and also empowering for a woman who desperately needs to feel some control over her life.

It's about 1/2 God-specific and 1/2 life-specific.  The life ones are more goofy and funny than helpful for anyone else.  But for each poem she researched a Biblical passage that inspires it in a way.

And about Amelia's middle name.... it would be even more funny if SHE turns out to be a HE.  It's been known to happen!  :)

  • Wow that's amazing! Congrats to your mom!
  • How neat! Guess she decided for you! LOL!
