Survive the Blizzard?

How much snow did everyone get?  I think at last check, we had about 20".  It was hard to tell b/c of the winds but I stood with the yardstick in a flat spot.  I shoveled 3 times and DH did once.  My car is still burried so I'll have to dig that out today and get the snow out from behind my tires so that I can go to work tomorrow. I'm sore has h*ll!

Re: Survive the Blizzard?

  • You go girl (shovling three times!).  I started to shovel but then gave up. I have a horrible chest cold and just couldn't do it. My neighbor eventually came over with his snowblower (god bless him), so I don't have much to do today. I'm going to try and shovel my door way though.
  • its been interesting we have been driving in it for 2 days because i still have to go to work no matter what.  Nursing homes unfortunatly dont get snow days.  We have been stuck 3 times and one involved a tow truck :<
  • We had about 15 inches out here with drifts up to my hips.  We also had a neighbor with a snow blower clear out half of our driveway.  We need to check the sidewalks and potentially shovel them today and we also need to dig out our sump pump drain before all this melts.
  • We haven't even tried to venture out past the driveway.  Our nice neighbor on his John Deere plowed our driveway yesterday earlier afternoon, thank goodness.
  • We shoveled out our walk yesterday, but our cars are still buried. We have to clean them off soon, since my poor Grandpa is still stuck in his house and needs groceries.

    Be safe everyone!

  • We shoveled yeaterday but there was about 3 more inches that fell since then. Our development just contracted someone to plow this morning so hopefully we'll be able to head out today.
  • I didn't measure the snow, but I started shovling the snow on Friday and my DH did yesterday and this morning.  I tried to finished it up after he left for work, but realized that I wasn't going to be able to finish clearing off the drive, so I will have to have DH help me with it when he gets home tonight.

My arms and legs are sore now from shovling!!
  • I think we had about 18 inches, but I cant be sure. It took me an hour to dig out my car this morning... a good work out though, despite the blister I got from it.
  • Still stuck away from the blizzard. I think flights are getting through today but they're all booked so we can't come home until tomorrow. Nothing like a 6:30 am flight with a toddler.
  • DH has shoveled on and off for two days.  Our driveway is pretty clear at the top, but the hill to the bottom (where garage is) is still completely covered.  It took an hour or so to get MIL's car out of our garage and through the unplowed alley to get her out of here.  I think our plan for the future is to invest in a snowblower, but to also always have at least one car at the top whenever a big storm is coming (we had both of ours out, but that didn't help MIL).

We went to lunch today after MIL left, because I was having cabin fever!!
  • Friday night when our original plans got cancelled we went to Quaker Steak and Lube on Polaris for dinner and then went and saw Semi Pro ... it was wierd to go out on a friday night and NOT Have to contend with crowds! We made it home safely and i didn't head out at all yesterday (the husband went to convinience store because he just wanted to go see how bad it really was out there!)... today not I'm leaving  but the husband when to drop off my sister on campus who came over on friday to get a break from her roomies and he's bringing home lunch for me... i'm spoiled :)
