MIL has asked me to help her plan DH's cousin's fiancee's bridal shower in May (did you get that?). I'd love to do something different to make it fun, but don't know her all that well, so it's not like I can do something uber-personalized. What sort of games and things that are different but fun have you done at bridal showers?
Re: Bridal Shower Games
Honestly that is the only game I remember out of 3 showers!
We've always done how well the bride knows the groom. You get the groom to answer a series of questions (where they met, where their first kiss was, what his first car was as a teenager, favorite color, favorite food, grandmother's maiden name, etc.) For every answer she gets wrong she has to chew a piece of bubble gum. It's really funny if you buy the worst hardest gum you can find!
And two that I did for my cousin's wedding:
1. Take plain white cotton underwear, have the guests get into teams of however many and design a pair of underwear for the bride. My family came up with a lot of funny stuff!
2. Make a build-a-wedding-cake kit with marshmellows, ribbons, toothpicks and other adornments. Have the guests get into teams and design a wedding cake. Guests had a lot of fun with this one also. A lot of people got really into it and were very creative!
I attended a shower where we had to draw the bride-to-be... under the table (or with your eyes closed), dress, earrings, etc. The bride chose her favorite drawing to win a prize.
The bingo game is always fun too - and the blank page version works well (people write in what they think the bride will receive).
My sister did something cool/different for me - for dessert she had several family members each bring a different bundt cake, then had one on each table. She got small silver charms that have a meaning - the flip flop meant you'd travel soon, wishbone was for good luck, etc. She tied a ribbon to each one, and put the charm in the "hole" of the cake, and the ribbon tail went out over the cake and down the side. Each person pulled a ribbon and get a charm/fortune. There was lots of cake for everyone to take a few pieces home, and all different flavors.
Happy shower planning!
I was recently at a shower where they bought a 'bridal shower in a box' thing. It was about $20, but all the suppiles were in it, including the tierra for the bride.
We also did the toilet paper dress game, divided into about 5 teams.
I'm sorry that you have to plan a shower for someone you don't even know. That must not be too much for for you.
