i saw in the post below that you've been to bermuda. we're going at the end of april (one last hurrah before the baby). mostly just looking to relax and soak in some sun, but wondering if you have any recommendations of must-do's or must-see's. what about good restaurants? thanks!

  • I'm so envious.  I love Bermuda!

    Some must sees:
Horseshoe Bay Beach - it's supposed to be the nicest beach in Bermuda.  Gorgeous pink sand and rock formations.  The area is surrounded by a reef, so there are no large waves, and it is fairly shallow far from the shore.
St. George - It's the historical area of Bermuda and much more charming than Hamilton. There are beautiful old buildings, and ruins of an old church and fort. The time we spent in Hamilton was busy and it was crowded and much more commercial.  But still beautiful.
White Horse Tavern:  A Bermudian flavor restaurant in King's Square of St. George.

It's been a couple of years when I went, and we were on a cruise, so we didn't do a lot of eating off of the cruise ship.  But the white horse tavern, we had lunch at, and loved it!

Also, St. George was a lot more hilly than I was expecting, so be prepared for some walking.  Also, if you ride the pink bus anywhere - be prepared for a wild ride and impossibly narrow streets! :)

I hope that is somewhat helpful...Have a great time! It's so beautiful there, I'd love to go back and stay for a bit!

  • thanks for the suggestions. we are staying on the west end in sandys parish because it's supposed to be quieter and a little more off the beaten track. so st georges will be a like an hour ferry ride. sounds like it might be nice to visit for an afternoon though.

what time of the year were you there? i am a little worried that the water will still be too cold at the end of april.

  • You're welcome. :)  Telling you about the things we did, reminded me how much I loved it there. We were there mid-September, so I'm not sure how it will be in April.

Have a lovely, relaxing time together!
  • also - I am pretty sure the dockyards in Sandy's Parish is where we were docked for the first three days.  It was really pretty there as well!
