s/o Saving on Produce; Community Supported Agriculture

Has anyone done this?  It looks like a lot of food for a week!  Also, seems like a great deal if you can eat it all, especially since they have home delivery!  Do they just drop it off whenever, or is there a scheduled time?

Re: s/o Saving on Produce; Community Supported Agriculture

  • Restaurantwidow.com has some good info about the local CSAs.  There are different types...fruits, veg and fruit, even MEAT.  So tempting!

I'll see if I can find the link for you.

  • I just saw the post on here last night with the link, but I think DH and I are going to do the half-share.  I emailed the CSA people last night to ask if they dropped off on a specific day, or if it was just random, and they responded that once they get all the applications in and see how many people in certain areas are participating, they determine which day you'll receive your food, and it stays the same day all season.  So they let you know before the first delivery.

I think the half-share seems like a good amount for DH and I.   I'm going to be using some of the veggies to make baby food for DS, but even though the list was pretty long, it seemed pretty close to what we're eating now!

  • This restraunt widow report seems to be more about farmers markets and the such than the CSA that delivers produce to your door, or am I missing something.  CSA only stands for community suppported agriculture so it can be a delivery service or a farmers market.

PS worthington has a winters farmers market every other saturday.
  • You have to click on a couple things.  Here is a search of CSAs according to MY zip (43015)

  • Could you please let me know which company you're using? I'd love to try this for a season or two.

    Thanks!
