How long do home inspections last?

Ours is tomorrow and since it is out of town, I'm trying to determine what time would be best for both me and the inspector depending on how long it takes.

Re: How long do home inspections last?

  • I think ours was about 2 hours.  Maybe closer to 3.  Of course, DH kept chatting the guy up, so it *could* be shorter...lol
  • Allow for 3 hours, usually less, but you really want them to be thorough and not just breeze through the home quickly. Ours only took about 1 hour and I think it could it have been better, but to their credit it was a new build, so there isn't a whole lot to investigate either. HTH!
  • Ours was 3.5 hours, but it woul dhave been a lot shorter if the inspector was more efficient/less chatty.
  • Ours took about 4 hours.  I'm not sure why -- she didn't find too much wrong with it.
  • ours took quite awhile but then again our inspector couldn't get into the locked box for the key, was about to have a heart attack I think, and all kinds of problems.  I found out afterwards that this guy tends to be pretty hard to work with like that.  I can't remember his name but I'll post it when I get home.
  • I would say average is around 3hr for the C-bus area.
