outdoor aisle runner options?

I posted this on our fabulous Columbus knottie message board but I thought I would check with you all as well.

My friend, who is getting married in Sandusky, is having an outdoor ceremony over the summer. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do in lieu of an aisle runner? No for paper runners cause heels will mostly likely poke through them. Outlining the aisle with rose petals is another option. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Re: outdoor aisle runner options?

  • She could also outline it with silk ribbons. Or if the aisle is wide enough (and no chance of her dress touching them or ones with lids), perhaps candles?  Honestly though, it it's outside, the scenery will be pretty enough to not need any type of runner. Just some flower pedals will still be beautiful!

We weren't allowed to have a runner because of the wooden floors being slippery, but I really didn't miss it with all the other decorations and my FG throwing pedals.

  • we had tulle draped & bows tied to the chairs on either side of the aisle and rose petals scattered down the entire aisle.

  • Instead of just outlining the asile why doesn't she fill the aisle almost like a blanket of flowers. If she has a flowergirl then she could throw a contrasting color. You can ususally get petals pretty cheap if you ask your florist to use petals from flowers that are a "little past their prime". Also grocery stores can usually sell them in large quantities as well.
